Turf installation

You can be sure of a first rate job first time when your lawn is laid by Interlawn. We take great pride in our work, paying particular attention to levelling and preparing the site, a vital part which often gets over looked by some contractors. No job will be considered too small or large, where a mechanical digger can be used to landscape the ground if required. We use our own turf and soil giving us total quality control and giving the finest results, and always use a suitable fertiliser to promote healthy growth in the early establishment stage. When finished, we ensure your new lawn is suited to your requirements and well watered-in before leaving. You will also receive full aftercare instructions, or you can opt for our continuous lawncare programme.

    Seeding
    If you are patient, careful sowing of grass seed will produce an excellent lawn for many years. The same preparation work is done as with turf, but instead, seed is applied mechanically and then incorporated into the top few millimetres or soil. A few weeks later, the ground should be green over with grass and your new lawn starts to take shape. Simply mow as you would with turf to thicken the lawn up.

    Interlawn will supply you with the type of seed you desire, which will always be excellent quality, similar to the type that we grow our own turf with. There are many mixtures available and we will be happy to advise if you are unsure.

    Lawn renovation
    Some lawns require a more severe approach than basic treatments to revive them, so INTERLAWN provide a unique renovation which usually involves scarifying, over-seeding, adding good quality topsoil and then feeding. The lawn will look a bit sad for a while, but in a few weeks, you will be amazed at the fantastic results! .

    Lawn treatments


    All lawns require maintenance in the form of lawn treatments, as mowing alone will not be enough long term. After all, a lawn is simply a mass of living plants, which require essential elements like all plants, including water, air, nutrients and sunlight.

    A basis of any lawn treatment programme will consist of regular (3 monthly usually) weed and feed applications through the year. This feed will give the roots and shoots the nutrients they need to help grow healthily all year providing there is water available. The weed killer rids the lawn of unsightly weeds almost entirely, giving a superb appearance, which is safe for children and pets. Other problems may arise in your lawn which can usually be dealt with, such as the devastating leatherjacket pest, and diseases, such as the ever more familiar Red Thread.


    Scarifying is a useful operation, which is usually done in autumn/winter or sometimes spring. This mechanical operation removes thatch which build up in the base of the lawn. Moss can also be removed, where this can be treated prior to scarifying for best results. Aeration is also recommended for compacted or waterlogged areas, where spikes or hollow tines punch small holes in the lawn, giving rise to better root growth, increased air movement and increased surface drainage.
